Laura Todd – Director
BSc. (B. Sci.), M. Env. Mgt, Grad. Cert. Mgt.

Director of EnviroWorks Consulting, Laura Todd has extensive years experience in Senior Management, providing environmental and sustainability leadership across public and private sector projects. Laura’s career spans 15 years across a variety of industries. Prior to establishing EnviroWorks, Laura held corporate leadership roles in several major mining and energy companies including Fortescue Metals Group, Iluka Resources and the Griffin Group. In these roles Laura gained extensive experience in Environmental Impact Assessment, Regulatory Negotiation, Corporate Environmental Management and Stakeholder Consultation.

Laura has extensive consulting experience across a wide range of projects including:
  • Environmental Scoping and Baseline Studies for Australian and international mining projects.
  • Government Policy and Planning.
  • Major Project Environmental Impact Assessment and approvals including Power, Mining, Processing, Rail and Port developments. 
  • Corporate Sustainability Strategy and Reporting.
  • Environmental Management Systems and Auditing.
  • Stakeholder Consultation and Corporate Communication Strategy.

In 2003, Laura was a state finalist in the Telstra Young Business Women’s Award and in 1999 she was recognised with an Award for Academic Excellence for her Masters studies.

Anthony Elkington - Senior Manager
B.Bus. BSc

Senior Manager at EnviroWorks Consulting Anthony Elkington has 15 years experience in the field of communications and data management. Anthony has worked in a variety of communications and data management based roles with private sector, government and non-government organisations. Anthony’s key project areas include data analysis, geographic information systems spatial displays and mapping, stakeholder consultation, social research, strategic communication and community partnership programs. Anthony holds a Bachelor of Science and a Bachelor of Business from Edith Cowan University in Western Australia.
 
Patti Algie - Senior Environmental Consultant
BSc. (NRM), Grad. Dip. Env. Mgt
Senior Consultant, Patti Algie has gained interdisciplinary experience spanning twelve years in the environmental, mining and regulatory fields. In the years she worked on site for mining companies, she was involved in many Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA’s) particularly the design, execution and data analysis of flora and fauna surveys (aquatic and terrestrial), biological and physical monitoring and water quality monitoring.
While heading the Environmental Department for the Ellendale Diamond Project, she managed the planning and approval of three developments that were referred to the Environmental Protection Authority (EPA). She presented and discussed EIA outcomes with the Chair and/or the EPA Board, and other regulatory departments and implemented various management plans during construction and operation to facilitate compliance with all environmental conditions set.
She has provided technical guidance, review and training to site departments on various biological, hydrogeological, water supply, hydrocarbon and waste management plans. She has broad experience in supervising support staff, consultants, contractors and work experience students.

She has also been engaged in environmental investigations including those into Big Bell mine Tailings Storage Faciliity seepage; Cuddingwarra dewatering/saline water disposal into Lake Austin; and Merlin Diamond mine review of closure estimates.

Leigh Van Der Walt – Specialist Environmental Consultant

BSc (Geology), BSc (Hydrology).
 
Consultant at EnviroWorks Consulting, Leigh Van Der Walt has approximately 7 years experience in scientific research and environmental management ranging from data collection and analysis, catchment modelling and management, environmental management systems implementation and maintenance and Environmental Impact Assessments.

In a previous role as and Environmental Practitioner with BHP Billiton, Leigh was responsible for the integrated environmental management of coal mines including the writing and implementation of Environmental Management Programs, rehabilitation of disturbed land, management of water systems, monitoring systems, liaison with interested and affected parties and government authorities. Leigh also has extensive experience with the collection, analysis and manipulation of data for input into Hydrological Simulation models.

Stephen Connell - Botanist / Ecologist
BSc. (Bot. Zoo.) BSc. Hons. (Bot.), PhD (Bot.)

Dr Stephen Connell’s areas of specialty are flora surveys, fauna habitat surveys, management plans and GIS applications. His doctoral research focused on population biology, dry matter productivity and nutrient cycling. He has extensive experience as a university lecturer throughout Australia as well as significant hands on experience in conducting ecological surveys throughout Western Australia.

Ceidwen Pengelly – Environmental Consultant
BSc (Env. Science), Dip (Frontline Management)

Environmental Consultant at EnviroWorks Ceidwen Pengelly has approximately 8 years experience in a wide variety of professional roles including environmental management, project management, administration, public relations and events management. Ceidwen has approximately 5 years experience as an Environmental Manager specialising in natural resource management, monitoring and evaluation.  Prior to joining EnviroWorks, Ceidwen held the role of Monitoring and Evaluation Manager for all Government funded Natural Resource Management (NRM) Projects in Western Australia.  In this role Ceidwen developed strong project management, report writing, public relations, policy development and stakeholder consultation skills.  Prior to this, Ceidwen coordinated the Department of Environment and Conservation Environment Awards where she specialised in events coordination, public relations, budget control and contract management. Ceidwen also has extensive previous experience in business administration, customer service and office management with the legal and medical sectors.

Christine Stone - Geographic Information Systems Consultant
BSc. (Geology)

Christine Stone has over 10 years experience in the Mining Industry. Christine started her career as a geologist in gold exploration and mining and then moved into nickel mining. Christine has substantial experience in all aspects of open pit and underground geology, including sampling and grade control, geological mapping, managing drilling programs, interpretation of geological and assay data, and mining stockpile reconciliation. Recently Christine moved into the field of maintenance of (geological) data offsite, and has now chosen to specialize in Environmental Data Management and Geographic Information Systems. Christine has used a variety of in-house and commercial databases, and mining/geoscience software packages. Christine is highly skilled in data acquisition, data management and geospatial data display. She utilised these skills at EnviroWorks taking a lead role in the management of environmental data and production of a wide range of environmental maps and diagrams.

Amber Beale - Administration and Business Systems Coordinator
Bsc. (Marine Coastal Mgt), Bsc. (Geography)

Administration and Business Systems Coordinator for EnviroWorks, Amber Beale brings with her several years experience in Environmental Research with both government and private organizations as well as extensive experience in data management, computing, communications, business systems and administration.  Amber takes a leading role at EnviroWorks in office management, business improvement and administration as well as supporting the consulting team on a variety of projects.

Angela Grafton - Data and Administration Technician
Bsc. (Env. Biology), Bsc. (Aquatic Science) to be completed in 2010.

Angela has a range of experience working within both Government and private organisations, she most recently worked with the Department of Environment and Conservation as a technical officer. At EnviroWorks Angela performs a variety of technical duties and provides administrative support to the team specialising in research, GIS and data entry.

Merrilyn Turner – Administration Assistant

Administration Assistant for EnviroWorks Consulting, Merrilyn Turner has a broad range of business management and administration skills. Merrilyn takes responsibility for accounting, invoicing and office management for EnviroWorks. She also assists with document control and other administrative functions. Prior to joining EnviroWorks, Merrilyn managed accounting and administration for a successful occupational health and safety consultancy in Perth.
